It's been a good few months since we moved home and although it's not been easy going we've settled in nicely now.
The difference between living in the new place and the old is astonishing.
Admittedly we have downsized, nevertheless, we feel a whole lot warmer, more secure, a sense of ease and piece of mind from just being here.
I definitely attribute that to being able to have a reasonable amount of choice over where we finally ended up moving to.
When I look back at all the years we've spent in privately rented accommodation then compare that to now, I wonder how we even allowed the various landlords to get away with robbing us blind charging us the over inflated amount they did for a place to call home when it never really was nor could be.
It really wakes me up to how dire the housing situation is in this country. Not just the housing situation but non fault evictions are another source of discontent having been subjected to this process ourselves.
The issues of housing shortages, poor quality homes and people being made homeless at a moments notice really need to be tackled once and for all by this government.
Living somewhere safe and warm can really make a difference to a person's outlook on life.
