Ive just watched the little princess, 1987 sort, a scene stuck with me, where a boy gave the girl some money for food. She refused, said "I'm not a begger" and the lad replied with "you look like youre in need" and she accepted the coin. Later saying to herself she accepted it cos the lad seemed so disappointed when she refused. The lad reminded me of my lad.

I remember when my lad, my youngest, a year or so ago, when he told me "it's not easy to spot who's poor and who's not until you talk to people and realise that some can afford better things or places to go than others. I was talking to my friends at school and they were alot like us, their mum's don't have alot of money either and have to say no to new toys and Gameboys like you. But they also told me they wish they were me, cos their mummy's and daddy's don't play with them everyday like you do with me. I think that makes us rich." Kids are so much more empathetic than adults towards people of different incomes.
