Petrol costs, although they have come down in price in the last few years to what they were at the start of the cost of living crisis, are still a source of annoyance to me.

I'm not certain whether this is a local issue or not, but I remember there was a time when it was guaranteed that supermarket petrol stations were always a good few pence cheaper in petrol costs, than major petrol stations were.

In retail terms it was classed as a "loss leader" to charge less for petrol to entice shoppers to buy their groceries in store, whilst filling up the petrol tank along side a trolley full of shopping.

Not only that, they would typically offer cheaper costs because they wanted to remain competitive with their immediate neighbours such as Shell, BP, Esso etc.

Well they aren't any cheaper any more. All the local supermarket petrol stations have upped their petrol prices along with their groceries.

The consumer is having to fork out more again, more than a fair share of their income, more than they can afford.

Do they think people are blind to their increases? Do they think we can't shop cheaper elsewhere?
