Childcare speeches for the DfE and DWP in Westminster: 7th May 2025

The following speeches were delivered by parents from Changing Realities at a roundtable event on Childcare with Minister Stephen Morgan (DfE), Minister Alison McGovern (DWP), and attending senior civil servants. Framed by opening and closing statements written and presented by two parents, the document contains five areas of identified childcare challenges, with two parents speaking to each challenge. The themes and subsequent policy asks emerged through a large Big Ideas meeting held in February 2025 with over 70 attendees, and through wider participant responses to weekly Big Questions, public diary entries and online prep meetings. We appreciate the efforts of all Changing Realities participants, and are very grateful for the time, courage, and energy that attending an in-person event such as this takes.
